Agatha Christie’s mystery in Haddo House with added pre-movie mini tours, illustrating Haddo’s intriguing links with the Nile & Egypt.
Celebrating Agatha Christie . . this year being the 50th anniversary of Christie’s death, Haddo House is delighted to be screening the second and final of their Agatha Christie films, Death on the Nile, starring Peter Ustinov.
It takes place in Egypt in 1937, mostly on a period paddle steamer – sumptuous and opulent – a floating palace for luxury travellers and Christie’s honeymoon couple. No surprise then that Haddo’s Library is the perfect place to screen this movie classic.
Adding an extra dimension to the evening, and for a special few (those quickest off the mark!), Haddo House have created a mini, film-linked tour, highlighting the family’s relationship with the Nile and with Egypt, plus the chance to see some of their artefacts from their travels. Lord & Lady Aberdeen, who created the Haddo House you see today, honeymooned in Egypt and along the Nile in 1877-78. They were away for a year, and the stories you will hear of their adventures, the people they met, and their philanthropy, will both surprise and delight.
This mini tour, created especially to accompany the film, has limited capacity – only 15 tickets are available for each of the two time slots. Snap them up – don’t miss out on this deeper insight into travel in Egypt and along the Nile in bygone days.
