SUMMARY:Myths of The Vikings
DESCRIPTION:Gather round and hear stories of Odin\, the King of the Gods; Thor and his mighty hammer; and Loki\, the shape changer\, adventurer and mischief maker. In this engaging rod puppet production\, the puppeteer battles frost giants\, dodges magical beasts and brings the gods of old to life. \nWhile sculpting his beautiful wooden puppets\, the puppet-maker relives these stirring ancient stories through his skillful carving and imaginative storytelling. Come and feel the thrill of timeless tales\, just as the children of the Norse did long ago.

SUMMARY:The Maggie Wall
DESCRIPTION:Due to the extended RED warning for Johnshaven and South Aberdeenshire\, we have decided to cancel this performance.\nThe safety of you as our faithful audience\, our volunteers and artists is the top priority.\nDue to The Maggie Wall tour dates\, we are uncertain if we can reschedule. We will let you know of any developments.\nWe apologise for any inconvenience this may cause and appreciate your understanding during these challenging times.\nPlease stay safe\, and let’s hope Storm Babet passes soon.\n  \nThis new play from Martin McCormick was inspired by a monument near Dunning called ‘The Maggie Wall’\, the site of a mysterious grave to a woman tried and executed in the 17th century for witchcraft. It’s a collection of stones about 20 feet high\, bearing the words in white lettering – “Maggie Wall burnt here 1657 as a witch”. \nThe Maggie Wall explores the vulnerability of women and injustices suffered by them in a patriarchal and closed community and resonates with contemporary experiences\, as well as reminding us of a chapter of Scottish and British history in which many people\, predominately women\, were accused\, tried and killed as suspected witches.
