Whilst the magic can be a bit hit and miss and Baldini’s old trouper’s spirit is sorely tested the audience is often helpless with laughter as Baldini desperately attempts to hold it together and soldier on. \nThe illusions are excellent (Baldini is an award-winning member of the Magic Circle\, Wessex Magical Association and Bristol Society of Magic). Baldini is an aging trouper\, determined that the show must go on. This adds a level of comedy and theatre beyond a simple magic performance.

DESCRIPTION:This new play from Martin McCormick was inspired by a monument near Dunning called ‘The Maggie Wall’\, the site of a mysterious grave to a woman tried and executed in the 17th century for witchcraft. It’s a collection of stones about 20 feet high\, bearing the words in white lettering – “Maggie Wall burnt here 1657 as a witch”. \nThe Maggie Wall explores the vulnerability of women and injustices suffered by them in a patriarchal and closed community and resonates with contemporary experiences\, as well as reminding us of a chapter of Scottish and British history in which many people\, predominately women\, were accused\, tried and killed as suspected witches.

DESCRIPTION:It’s December 31st\, 2010\, in Fraserburgh and the eve of Daisy’s 17th birthday. But all is not sparkly at Daisy and Granny’s house. Tempers have erupted\, and a disgruntled Daisy has locked herself away. Daisy is desperate to join her best friend at the New Year’s Eve party in the town’s Leisure Centre\, but Granny will simply not allow it. Granny\, who has raised Daisy since her mother’s death\, wants to continue their usual Hogmanay traditions together instead. \nThere amongst her music and old schoolbooks\, things take a time-bending twist when Daisy is magically transported back to December 31st\, 1993 – the same night 17 years earlier. What will December 31st\, 1993\, hold for Daisy? Why has she been brought back here and now? What does this night have to do with Granny’s Hogmanay traditions?
