SUMMARY:Almost Famous
DESCRIPTION:Emily Benton\, veteran actor and star of stage and screen\, is back in the UK after a career that took her to Broadway and Hollywood. With her pedigree\, she should be in Downton Abbey or the Best Exotic Marigold Hotel\, not auditioning for a role in a devised play that only become available when another\, more famous\, actor went to join the theatre in the sky. What cruel fate brought her here? Maybe there’s a secret she’s not revealing.

SUMMARY:Joe H Henry
DESCRIPTION:Some voices sneak up on you. Joe H Henry’s doesn’t. It hits like a thunderclap —sacred\, soulful\, and impossible to ignore. The Red River Metis singer-songwriter has been lighting up stages across the Maritimes and around the world with a sound that fuses Americana grit\, gospel-sized emotion\, and a voice that’s been described as “as powerful as a freight train”. \nDrawing from a life encompassing experiences from a homeless train-hopping youth to a homesteading father of five\, Henry’s song writing is thoughtful and his storytelling captivating\, the depth of experience resonating in every line he sings. \nHis debut EP\, “Keep the Fire Burning” (2023)\, garnered significant recognition\, including multiple award nominations. His eagerly awaited second EP\, “Real Things\,” has already received critical praise\, securing placements on SiriusXM North Americana and reaching #1 on the East Coast Top 30 and the Indigenous Music Countdown. \nWhether performing solo or with his trio\, Joe H Henry consistently stuns audiences at major festivals\, theatres\, and on international stages\, solidifying his reputation as an absolute powerhouse performer.

SUMMARY:Mettle
DESCRIPTION:METTLE is a true story. \nIt is a celebration of a man and his wartime service on one of the most infamous Atlantic convoys of World War Two. \nIt is also an observation of a past generation who\, although quietly wrestling with their demons\, remained silent about their service for many years. \nFrom his childhood in Sheffield in the 1960’s\, through to the present day\, award-winning solo performer Nicholas Collett takes us on an epic journey\, retracing his father’s steps\, from Liverpool to the USA and back\, via Sierra Leone and Nova Scotia\, reliving the utter terror of U-boat attacks\, the storm-tossed ocean\, along with the lighter moments of serving aboard a wartime destroyer – including a close encounter with Glenn Miller – in a captivating and physical solo performance. \nA tale of love and loss\, both moving and funny\, above all life-affirming and a paean to those we miss most. \n \n  \nWritten and performed by Nicholas Collett\nDirected by Gavin Robertson\nWith support from the Daparian Foundation and the V&W Destroyers Association.

SUMMARY:Third Class
DESCRIPTION:“The White Star Line merged itself out of existence. Those clever little educated boys.”  \nA one-man theatre show based on the life of Titanic survivor\, Edward Dorking. \nEdward was gay. Openly gay\, and on Wednesday\, April 10th\, 1912\, he set sail for NYC on a ticket bought for him by his parents in the hope his American family could put him ‘right’ \nTHIRD CLASS charts Edward’s journey from boarding the Titanic to swimming for 30 minutes towards an already full collapsible lifeboat and how he\, upon arriving in New York\, would tour the Vaudeville circuit\, recreating the stories for a fact-hungry public. \nBut Edward didn’t want fame; he wanted revenge. When everyone was talking about the deaths of millionaires and society figures\, few were discussing the people who took the lion’s share of the losses that night: the third class. \nEdward was coming for the upper classes. \nUsing music\, movement\, projection\, and historical facts\, THIRD CLASS tells the story of an unknown hero from a well-known story. \n
